The Bishop’s Palace, an imposing architectural edifice built in an Indo-Gothic revival architectural style located on the south-east corner of the Kolkata Maidan, at 51 Chowringhee Rd, with St. Paul’s Cathedral close to it. The front facade with its high ornate pillars is very impressive; the flooring is teakwood, a rambling staircase with polished banister connects the upstairs. At the entrance of the building a huge cast iron bell of Chinese origin hangs from a dragon bracket. In 1919 the Bishop’s Palace was renamed as the Bishop’s House.
