- Archival Photo Print

The Malik Ghat flower market has a great historical significance dating back to 1885 when Ram Mohun Mallick built this Ghat. Today it is the largest flower market not only of India but also in Asia. The Howrah Bridge on the Hoogly River is very close to the ghat making access easy for the flower vendors. It bustles with activity from the very early hours of the morning as thousands of flower growers descend here from all parts of the state to sell cut flowers, garlands and flower arrangements. Malik’s Ghat has a flight of steps leading down to the Hoogly River, a distributary of the Ganges and attracts hordes of bathers.
