- Archival Photo Print

3,000.00 – 30,000.00

In 1884, Kidderpore was selected as the site for the wet docks of the Port of Calcutta and in 1892 it was ready for operation. The King George Dock which was later renamed as Netaji Subhas Dock was added in 1928. The Haldia Dock which is a deep water dock is yet another that came up in 1969. Kolkata port was a premier port in the 1950’s. The Kidderpore docks were the perfect place for sailing ships and steamers as trading grew. The Kolkata Port Trust, now renamed as Shyama Prasad Mookerjee Port, is rejuvenating its Kidderpore Docks (KPD) through Public-Private-Partnership (PPP) mode.
