A Hall at Seven Tanks In Calcutta, Year 1870, (Code 001)
Howrah Bridge, Year 1931, (Code 109)
- Archival Photo Print
The Howrah Bridge is one of the most recognizable landmarks of Kolkata. The bridge continues to make its steel strong statement of a structure that is as unique as it is artistic, dominating the skyline and keeping the human and vehicular traffic moving through its heart daily as it straddles both banks of the mighty river Hooghly. The sixth longest bridge of its type in the world, this engineering marvel has no nuts and bolts but is formed by riveting the whole bridge structure. In 1965, the bridge was named Rabindra Setu after Nobel Laureate Rabindranath Tagore. But most people still refer to it as Howrah Bridge.
