A Hall at Seven Tanks In Calcutta, Year 1870, (Code 001)
Dalhousie Square, Year 1856, (Code 033)
- Archival Photo Print
Dalhousie Square or B.B.D Bag (Benoy-Badal-Dinesh Bagh) is a two square kilometre plaza in the heart of Kolkata ringed by historic architecture with the Lal Dighi, (water tank) in the centre. The red brickwork building reflection on the tank water has earned it the moniker, lal dighi (red pond). Originally named after Governor General of India from 1847 to 1856, James Andrew Broun-Ramsay, 1st Marquess of Dalhousie KT PC, also known as Lord Dalhousie, the area was the city’s financial, social, and political nucleus during British India and the trend continues even till date with landmark buildings in its proximity.
